Upon arrival in Hanoi, once you collect your luggage and clear the Visa process our local guide will be waiting outside with your name board, ready to greet you and transfer you to your hotel (approximately 1 hour). Normal check-in time is at 14.00 and an early check-in is subject to availability. You will be given time to relax or you may like to walk around Hoan Kiem Lake (The Lake of the Returned Sword) to enjoy the local atmosphere.
At around 16:00 our tour guide will pick you up from your hotel and we walk to the nearby Water Puppet Theatre. You will be impressed by the unique Vietnam traditional art dating from the 11th century. After the show, we will enjoy a delightful welcome dinner in one of the local restaurants. We then escort you back to your hotel for the night.

Activities: Visit Hoa Lu – the ancient capital of Vietnam; take the sampan boat trip, and enjoy the scenery of dry Halong. Take the night train to Lao Cai.

After breakfast, your tour guide will meet you in your hotel lobby for the two-hour drive to the outstanding UNESCO World Heritage Site Tam Coc ( Ninh Binh ). We take a sampan boat rowed by the locals along the Ngo Dong River leading to the Tam Coc grottoes. You will marvel at the limestone cliffs rising out of the rice fields.
After lunch, we go to Hoa Lu – the ancient Capital of Vietnam in the 10 and 11th centuries ruled by the first two Imperial Dynasties - the Dinh and the Le. Here people worship two great kings of Vietnam - Dinh Tien Hoang and Le Dai Hanh, both of whom protected, preserved and defeated other enemies. You will learn more about the unique Vietnamese woodcarvings from the 17th century as well as the precious historical relics.

This is also an opportunity to interact with the minority groups. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant.
In the afternoon, we will take the half hour drive back to Lao Cai. We make a stop at Trung Do Village inhabited by the Tay people. This is a popular attraction for not only domestic visitors but also for foreigners. You will also have an opportunity to see the 15-20 houses on stilts in this village and the splendid landscape of lush rice paddies and cornfields on the shore of the Chay River.
