The 2-Day Sapa Cycling Tour with Homestay takes you further afield of the trekkers, giving you access to some of the quieter parts of this glorious hill region. We will cycle past verdant rice paddies, under the noses of immense mountains, next to rivers, and along the sides of valleys to discover the beauty of this lesser-explored region.

Along the way, we meet the members of various hill tribes and have a chance to learn of their unique cultures in one of the most ethnically diverse regions of the country. We will learn a lot about the Tay minority by staying overnight in a beautiful homestay run by a Tay family. Their quiet village of Ban Ho provides the perfect escape from the big cities and we will sleep here under a blanket of stars.

Itinerary

Activities: Taking the bus from Lao Cai to Sapa, cycling through Lao Chai and Ta Van villages before relaxing at the homestay in Ban Ho.

05.30 AM: After arriving in the early morning at Lao Cai train station, you will be picked up by our guide and taken on the public bus to Sapa, through the first of the beautiful mountain landscapes you will see in this region.

08.00 AM: At Sapa, we jump on our bikes and cycle 9km to Lao Chai Village, where we will find a close-knit community of Black H’mong, one of the more populous hill tribes in the region. 2km along the way, we will reach the village of Ta Van and the homes of the local Giay minority.

13.00: We have lunch in Ta Van and continue another 10km down the valley to arrive at Ban Ho. This is where we will be staying for the night, so feel free to relax at the homestay of our ethnic Tay hosts or at the nearby waterfall. Later on, you will have a delicious local dinner and sleep in the serenity of Ban Ho.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Activities: Heading to Thanh Phu, joining the stunning mountain loop and returning to Sapa by Jeep, followed by Lao Cai by bus.

We will eat breakfast at the homestay before setting out to Thanh Phu Village along 8km of gorgeous mountain roads. After this, we join a loop and cycle for 7km to Nam Sai Village, home of the distinctively vibrant Xa Pho and Red Dao hill tribes. We finish the scenic loop back at Thanh Phu and enjoy lunch at a local house. Our final cycle will be down the valley to the suspension bridge, where our Jeep will collect us and take us right back to Sapa.

17.00: In the late afternoon, we catch the bus from Sapa to Lao Cai train station, where you can await your train to Hanoi.
