Activities: Explore Hoa Lu on a walking tour and Tam Coc on a boat and cycling tour before returning to Hanoi.
08:00 – 08:30: Await pick-up from the driver and guide at your hotel lobby. We will start the Hoa Lu – Tam Coc day tour by taking the 2-hour drive south to Ninh Binh, a province naturally blessed with some of northern Vietnam’s most incredible scenery.
10:00 – 10:30: We start our tour at Hoa Lu, Vietnam’s former capital and the seat of power over two dynasties that lasted 42 years between them. In this small enclave, we will learn of how King Dinh established his recently unified country amidst the mountains of Hoa Lu, building beautiful architecture that still stands today. The two temples in the grounds will give us a chance to hear more about the achievements of King Dinh and his successor, King Le, before the capital was moved to Hanoi.
12:00: At midday, we head over to Tam Coc to enjoy a buffet lunch served with an eye onto the natural splendour around us. We then continue to the centre of the village, where we will board a sampan boat at the head of the Ngo Dong River and glide down it with the help of a local rower using their feet. On the 90-mintue boat ride, we find luxuriant nature reaching forth on all sides, presented in tree-topped cliffs of limestone, eerie wet caves and fields of rice stretching out from directly beside the boat.
14:00: On bicycles, we take in the rest of Tam Coc village from the sanctity of its quiet cycling paths. More views of rice paddies before an unforgettable backdrop of a jagged mountain range will be the perfect ending of the tour and leave you with a lasting memory of Ninh Binh’s rural majesty.
15:00: We take the ride back to Hanoi and drop you off at your hotel in the late afternoon, leaving you to get re-acquainted with the capital through your own means.
Please make your own arrangements for dinner and stay overnight in Hanoi.

In the morning
At your hotel lobby again, you will be picked up to start your Halong Bay day cruise with a drive across 3.5 hours of gorgeous Red River Delta scenery.
In the afternoon
We board the Halong Bay day cruise from Hanoi and begin our sailing out into the prehistoric world before us. The sights of many limestone mountains will welcome us to the bay in some style, topped off with an excellent seafood or vegetarian lunch.
For the next 4 hours, we enjoy the incredible scene of Halong Bay both aboard the cruise and out in its many naturally carved features. Our first stop is to Ba Hang fishing village, where we can opt to kayak or take a bamboo sampan boat rowed by a local. This is a colourful enclave for fishermen and their families, tucked into a quiet corner of Halong Bay and bordered by unbelievable mountain scenery.
After this, we drop anchor at Dong Thien Cung, translating to the Cave of the Heavenly Palace, in order to explore a hidden world of incredible limestone structures illuminated in colourful lighting. On a walk around the cave, the incredible geology of Halong Bay will unveil itself in spectacular fashion.
Return to the cruise to enjoy green bean cake and some tea as the sun begins to set. We will disembark at the harbour and take the bus back to Hanoi, arriving at your hotel for you to spend another lovely evening in the capital.
