Your Hanoi to Ninh Binh Day Trip begins with a pick-up around 8.00am in Hanoi’s Old Quarter district. Keep an eye out for interesting elements of countryside life as we take the two-hour trip to Ninh Binh.
Our first stop is the ancient capital of Hoa Lu, the seat of the throne for King Dinh and King Le before the capital was moved to Hanoi. There are two temples here dedicated to the kings and our guide will explain what life was like under their rules.
After this, we will head to nearby Tam Coc, an area of pure natural beauty. We will have a buffet lunch in a local restaurant before heading to the riverbank to recline in a sampan boat. Local village women will row you for about 90 minutes down the river using nothing but their feet! There are a wealth of photo opportunities along the way, giving Tam Coc the nickname, ‘the Halong Bay on land’. There are three cave passages located underneath mountains along the river and wonderful views of lush green rice paddies running alongside the boat.
Once we return to the dock, we will take a cycling tour for about 45 minutes along the quiet country roads, passing stunning scenery of verdant green rice paddies with Vietnam’s iconic tree-topped mountainous landscape in the background. This really is the best way to discover authentic Vietnamese countryside.
