Unknown Hanoi
We start off by exploring the maze of backstreets and the astounding network of tiny connected alleyways that make Hanoi so unique. We will pass local homes and schools, along with open-air markets and even a black market, seeing the fast-paced way that locals live, work, play and shop. Hanoi runs a lot deeper than just the Old Quarter and we endeavour to show you everything, from the good to the bad to the downright weird in the bustling capital. This is where experiences are made, away from the tourist traps and into the suburbs, where you are sure to find a story to take home!
Classical Hanoi and City Highlights
We have quick stops at some of the essential highlights of Hanoi; sites that have forged the capital’s identity during its long history. We will stop at the ancient Buddhist temple of Tran Quoc on beautiful West Lake, the Confucian Temple of Literature and the picturesque train tracks that run throughout the city. Get your cameras ready as we ride through the showreel that is Hanoi’s different architectural influences over the years, from ancient Chinese to modern Western. We visit the magical French Quarter, Old Quarter and Hoan Kiem Lake, witnessing the local way of eating, working, playing and praying at street-level.
Red River Epic
Next, we will head over the bridge that leads out of the city to get some much-needed fresh air in the countryside. You will find a lot more freedom here as the traffic dissipates and we get the space to take in the sights and smells of nature. We will cruise past farming villages along the Red River Delta, between vast fruit and vegetable plantations and even past a small floating community of locals who live in their boats. We watch the sunset over the Red River from Long Bien bridge, contemplating the vast differences between inner and outer Hanoi.
Hanoi Food Experience
Our last call is at some truly local food stalls where you can gorge yourself in a place where tourists are special guests! We will be trying between seven and ten small dishes depending on time, including dishes with closely guarded recipes that have been passed down from generation to generation in a single family. We will finish with a look at some of the best drinks of Hanoi including sugarcane juice, locally-brewed ‘Bia Hoi’ and traditional Vietnamese rice wine.
We will drop you back at your hotel and your Hanoi Motorbike Tour will end. We hope to see you again!
