Mui Ne Beach Break

Once you have landed at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City, our guide will collect you and take you to your hotel in the centre of the city. After your check-in (check-in is from 14:00), you have free time to explore Ho Chi Minh City however you wish. Perhaps discover the city’s turbulent past through The War Remnants Museum or Independence Palace, or alternatively, take it easy in the centre of the city with a famous Vietnamese coffee while adjusting to the pace and temperature of southern Vietnam.

At 08:30, after breakfast at the hotel, our guide will collect you and transfer you to the Cu Chi Tunnels, lying about 60km to the northwest of the city. Between 1965 and 1975, the Cu Chi Tunnels were used by the Viet Cong to thwart the efforts of American personnel and plot a final attack against Saigon. At their peak, they reached 250km of connected underground tunnels, where makeshift weapons storages, hospitals and conference rooms would house hundreds of Viet Cong at any given time.

The Cu Chi Tunnels day trip will take us through the network as well as showing us some of the deactivated manmade booby traps that littered the jungle floor outside. Evidence of war can be seen in the burned-out husk of an American tank, along with several bomb craters left by B52 bombers. 

Following the tour, we will drive back to Ho Chi Minh City, where you have a free afternoon in which to explore more of the old capital of South Vietnam. Perhaps today you would enjoy shopping at the ancient Ben Thanh Market for Vietnamese goods, or at the luxury malls of Diamond Plaza and Takashimaya Vietnam.

Enjoy a fresh breakfast at the hotel and climb into our comfortable, private car for the transfer to Mui Ne, starting at 07:30.

After a four-hour drive, at around midday, we will arrive in Mui Ne and you will have a couple of hours to relax into your new resort and make your own arrangements for lunch.

At 14:00 (this time is flexible depending on your preferences), we will get into the Jeep to begin our Mui Ne Sunset Sand Dune Half-Day Tour. Our first stop will be the Fairy Stream, a unique red canyon made of sand, with a stream running along its floor. We will walk through the stream, which provides a pleasant feeling and great views of nature rising up around us. 

After this, the Jeep will transfer us to a fishing village in Mui Ne Bay. The colourful sampan and basket boats here provide a picturesque view of the water below, flanked by lots of examples of freshly caught seafood.

We draw the day trip to a close at Mui Ne’s beautiful sand dunes, which span as far as to appear like a desert. We start at the White Sand Dunes, driving our Jeep over the amassed sand hills until we reach the Lotus Lake, a curious oasis flecked with lotus flowers. Our final stop is the Yellow Sand Dunes from where we can watch a beautiful sunset descend behind the horizon, observing the sand change colour as we do so. We return to your resort after this and leave you to enjoy the evening at your own leisure.

Relish a leisurely breakfast today as you prepare to take the day however you like. From your resort, you will have unfettered access to the beach, where you can find a good spot and set up shop for the day. If you are feeling more active, then you could try out one of the local kitesurfing schools to try your hand at this high-octane sport.

You could continue your relaxation with a massage from one of the spas in the town. Each spa has a full menu of spa treatments and professionals who will administer them in an expert fashion.

Plan your day’s events over breakfast this morning as you prepare for another free day in gorgeous Mui Ne. Today, you could take the opportunity to go further afield and explore the outlying attractions of the town. A taxi to Bai Da Ong Dai, another of Mui Ne’s beautiful beaches, will cover around 13km from the centre of the town. Here, you can relax on the white sand or try out the neighbouring 18-hole golf course that overlooks the ocean.

Next to this is a rather curious oddity, the Wine Castle. This is a Vietnamese wine cellar shaped to stand like a European castle, with a huge interior that houses 42,000 different red and white wines and runs tastings on many of them. If you want to get a true sense of Vietnamese culture, then you could round off the day at the Linh Long Pagoda, a Buddhist temple with ornate pagodas and a wonderful 25m reclining Buddha statue amongst green surrounds.

Sit down for your final breakfast in Mui Ne. We will transfer back to Ho Chi Minh City today, but the time that we do that is largely down to you. You could take your last chance to savour Mui Ne’s wonderful beaches before taking the drive in the early afternoon, or you could take the drive in the morning and arrive for a free afternoon in Ho Chi Minh City.

Once we arrive in Ho Chi Minh City, you will check into your hotel (check-in is from 14:00) and enjoy whatever free time you have left in Vietnam’s second city.

Take an early breakfast today and await pick-up from the guide at a pre-organised time. We will take the 70km drive to the Mekong Delta, where the flow of the legendary river creates fish farms, orchards, rice paddies and the most verdant scenery, providing a beautiful and natural alternative to Ho Chi Minh City. 

We will stop at the Tien River and begin by taking a small boat ride, skirting along the luxuriant banks and spotting fish farmers hard at work. We stop at a nearby cocoa farm and discover the various procedures necessary to process cocoa beans and sell them on the market. 

After this, we head to one of the Mekong Delta’s most productive sources, its abundant orchards, which account for an enormous 70% of the entire country’s fruit production. Here, we will have the opportunity to discover the fruit farming culture of the Mekong Delta, spotting exotic fruits like rambutan, longan and dragonfruit and seeing how farmers make a living off the fertile soil of this region.

We will have lunch at a local restaurant before returning to Ho Chi Minh City in the mid-afternoon. You will have the rest of the day as free time, so feel free to relax with a coffee, or perhaps you could head up to the Saigon Skydeck for an uncompromised view of the city during sunset.

Savour the last breakfast and your last few hours in Ho Chi Minh City. Our driver will take you to the airport with much time to spare before your onwards flight.
